Nature-Based Therapy & Embodied-Nature Meditation Classes
Nature-Based Therapy is relational and systemic,
Drawing on the importance of a healthy relationship system and an inherent relationship to our ecological world.
Nature-based therapy draws on attachment research which highlights the crucial need to have secure connections with others, in order to have the confidence to grow and explore one’s potential in the world.
Our nature-based therapy sessions and embodied-nature meditation classes encourage you to attune to nature as a grounded mentor, which both serves in regulating the nervous system and deepens one's connection with the true Self.
Our sessions and classes encourage meditative encounters to deepen your attunement with nature, yourself and each other, and to create a safe container within which to explore one’s edges and develop new tools for self-awareness, friendships, self-esteem and belonging.
“In your longing for belonging, you will be asked to embark on a courageous journey into the wilderness of your own heart and mind, to walk the pathless path - this journey will lead you home”
- Marijana Jozic
When we connect to the essence of nature in our environment, and the essence of our true nature within the terrain of our body, we find the familiar and familial thread that connects us as kin to the natural world, awakening us to who we really are, and the healing ecosystem within our own bodies ~ offering us powerful opportunities to heal childhood wounds and relational trauma.
“Our bodies are living, breathing metaphors–mirrors for the external world, as well as record books holding our personal experience, the experiences of our ancestors, and the whole human experience. Connecting to nature offers another portal into uncharted or less known territories within yourself. And as you reclaim the places in yourself where you have habitually taken leave of yourself, more of the external world also becomes available.”
Nature-based therapy sessions and embodied meditation in nature classes are held mid-April to mid-October in local regional parks in Burnaby and the North Shore mountains of British Columbia.
Loneliness
I too have known loneliness.
I too have known what it is to feel
misunderstood,
rejected, and suddenly
not at all beautiful.
Oh, mother earth,
your comfort is great, your arms never withhold.
It has saved my life to know this.
Your rivers flowing, your roses opening in the morning.
Oh, motions of tenderness!
— Mary Oliver
